Flowering and Blue Abyss
Mane & Tales studio, 3 / 2 Wallaga Street, Bermagui NSW
23 November 2025 - 17 January 2026
Photographic prints, text work, ephemera.
The exhibition begins with three original photographic prints — subsequently becoming the source for two print series.
The prints in Flowering and Blue Abyss were made using a printer with blocked nozzles causing an unexpected colour corruption. Working with this malfunction — which I referred to as "the oracle" — the tool became collaborator, generating outcomes through intention and chance. Each print is unique and unrepeatable.
In a practice that tends toward monochrome, the corrupted colour here is significant. Two ephemera series were produced for the exhibition: Oracle, 20 unique double-sided prints, and Solarised, oracle prints as inverted versions of the originals.
Both series are hand-marked 1/1 in graphite, with typographic ephemera featuring the words Silence/Flowers/Medicine. The 1/1 mark appears throughout — representing the unrepeatable nature of each threshold moment, the ouroboros cycle, union and reflection.
